A Case of Pellagra Developed in a Chronic Alcoholics

Abstract
|
|
|
Pellagra is a deficiency disease of a chronic wasting nature, affecting the GI tract, the nervous system and the skin.
The patient, chronic alcoholics, was diagnosed by characteristic skin lesions, diarrhea, neuropsychiatric symptoms and histopathological findings.
He was treated with vitamin B complex, high protein diets and antipsychotic drugs and most symptoms improved significantly from the 3rd hospitalization day.
